Mombasa – art to live freely

Mombasa is one of the oldest cities in Kenya, located in a pictorial harbor on the Indian Ocean coast. This is an ancient part of the settlement that was thrown out on a small island that had only two ladies connected to the mainland. Every day, to the continent, almost every hour, they send a few thrones, so it’s pretty easy to get there.

Scientists believe that the city was founded in the 21st century. In 1151, the Arab philosopher, Aldrysis, first mentioned the Arab port of Mombasa. What’s interesting is that here were the most famous travellers of different times in 1331 — Ibn Battutta, 1415th here, and this is a Chinese fleet led by Zheng He, 1498th in the city by the world-famous Portuguese Mortel Vusco da Gama.

In the 21st century, Mumbai became one of the largest ports in Africa. Portugal, who controlled at the time of sea spaces, didn’t want to deal with other people’s trade routes, so the Portuguese desperately tried to invade Mombasa. The first attack on the city was 1502, and then about 40 years of bloodshed for the city. She ended up winning Portuguese.

1598 years to secure the port, they built Fort Jesus. What’s interesting is that this great building survived now. The city was moved from hand: in the late 19th century, the Arab was ruled by Arabs, from 1888 by the British, since 1964, after the arrival of Kenya in independence, the city became the sea gates of the country.

Today, Mombasa is a city with extraordinary atmosphere and an unusual colorize that draws thousands of travellers that love African exotic.
