
Maya is one of the most interesting and mysterious cultures in the world that left a recurring legacy behind her. The 19th century — the period of the greatest upbringing of this civilization, the time in the land of the people was about 60 kingdoms.

One of the great old cities of this civilization — the Palenka is now a real place of pilgrimage by thousands of tourists, although it’s not known as Macichak or Cheniza

His story was still enriched with mystery, but scientists were able to figure out that the Mayan was called a city, which turned out to be the capital of one of the kingdoms, the Lakhoc (in the translation of the Great Water).

Later, local Indians called him “Zulum,” which means “The House of Land,” after opening the ruins in 1746, he was renamed after the nearest village, the Palenka.

Today, this place is known by the amazing nature: the visual slopes of the Tumbalan Mountains, the emerald Green of neighboring land and the incredible ruins of ancient city, full of mysterious legend of the past.

The most well-known monument is “The Temple of Beens” — the 242nd metre building in the sanctuary at the top — thinks it was the most important ritual of the Maya.
